Entrepreneurs from Quintana Roo will ask Segob to intervene to reject Colombian tourists

Cancun, QR. The Cancun Hotel Association, Puerto Morelos e Women Island will request the intervention of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) to address and resolve cases of mistreatment and rejection of Colombian tourists who report to the modules of the International Airport of this city.

Jesús Almaguer Salazar, president of the business organization, commented that in the recent promotional tour Knock on Doors that was carried out in Canada, they reported this situation to the federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, and asked him to intervene because these are shameful actions that denigrate the image of Mexico abroad.

He explained that it is not feasible for Cancun’s second most important market to be treated like this, not only because of the impact on tourism, but also because of the human rights violations that this represents.

The hoteliers will not only request that Colombian citizens no longer be rejected, but also that the visa for Brazilian citizens imposed by the Mexican government three weeks ago be eliminated, since both are two strategic markets for the Mexican Caribbean.

Almaguer Salazar assured that they have already formally requested a meeting with the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, but that if this is not achieved, they will insist by sending public notices to the federal government so that it intervenes as soon as possible.

This system consists of filling out a form on the page of the Mexican National Migration Institute (INM), in which Colombian tourists provide their data and state the reasons why they wish to enter Aztec lands.

In case of not having any migratory alert, the Colombian citizen receives a QR code that he presents once in Mexico to the immigration agents to speed up his entry into the country, however, this mechanism only worked for a few months, since last July they returned to increase the cases of rejection and humiliating treatment in Cancun and CDMX.
