Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today, Friday, that China has agreed to deliver to his country a second shipment of the “Coronavac” vaccine against Corona, which is produced by the Chinese company “Sinovac Biotec”.
Erdogan added in a press statement today, Friday, in Istanbul, that 10 million doses of the Chinese “Coronavac” vaccine could reach Turkey by the end of this week.
The Turkish Ministry of Health will conduct tests on the new shipment, and health sector workers say, “This may take about two weeks before starting vaccinations. This means that Turkey will only be able to immunize 100 thousand per day over the next two weeks.”
Turkey has received an initial shipment of three million doses and has so far vaccinated 1.166 million people, most of them health workers and the elderly.
Last week, the Turkish Ministry of Health launched a vaccination campaign with the Chinese Coronavac vaccine, as part of a priority schedule that began with health care workers.
