Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that his country is continuing intensive measures to rescue the kidnapped Turkish ship “MOZART”, after it was attacked by pirates off the coast of Nigeria.

On Sunday, the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department reported that Erdogan had telephoned the ship’s captain, Furkan Yarin, adding that the Turkish president was closely following all developments related to the kidnapping of the crew.
According to the statement, Erdogan received information about the health of the 3 survivors of the attack on the ship that docked in Gabon, and wished them safety, stressing that measures are continuing intensively to save the kidnapped crew members.
The cargo ship “MOZART” sailing under the flag of Liberia, on Saturday morning, was attacked by pirates in the Strait of Guinea, where they killed an Azerbaijani citizen who was among the crew of 19 people and kidnapped 15 others.
While 3 other people remained on board the ship, which arrived Sunday at the port of Gantel in Gabon, as Turkey mobilizes its diplomatic efforts to rescue the kidnapped.
