Aktay said, in a statement to the Russian “Sputnik” agency, today, Saturday, that “the agreements that Turkey had concluded with the previous Libyan government of reconciliation, headed by Fayez al-Sarraj, and the Turkish military presence in Libya would not be affected by the choice of the new interim government.”
He explained that “Turkey is in Libya at the invitation of the Libyan people and the reconciliation government … and the new interim government does not oppose these agreements or the Turkish presence in the country, but on the contrary it supports the Turkish role there.”
Aktay added, “The choice of the new government in Libya came after reaching understandings through a well-known dialogue process … Turkey welcomes the choice of the new government and sees it as a positive thing, given the Libyan people are close to stability and strengthening internal dialogue in the country.”
He continued: “A presidential system has been established that includes the West, East and South in the country, and we hope that this will be reflected positively on the scene in the country … The Libyan people adopt our vision in Libya and this vision is the political unity of the country and its administration by the Libyans, and now a confident and strong step has been taken with this. Direction, and in this sense we support the process. “
He explained that “the agreements concluded by Turkey with the Libyan Government of National Accord are international agreements and will not be affected by the positions of other governments.”
Aktay also stressed that “the Libyan parties must respect each other and not allow anyone to enter them, and they should not give the revolutionaries a chance to make the political process succeed and continue.”
Aktay warned of the possibility of undermining the political process in Libya and obstructing it, noting that “some forces may seek to rob Libya of the Libyans and not leave it to them as they did before, and the Libyans must be careful in front of these forces.”
