Exports from Nuevo León grew 24% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the fourth period of 2018: Coparmex

Monterrey, NL. Las exports of New Lion grew 24% in the second quarter of 2022, compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, however there are three subsectors that have not recovered compared to pre-pandemic figures, therefore, an analysis by the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), urged the government to give priority to productive investment spending to boost the competitiveness of companies.

The most affected subsectors are: animal husbandry and exploitation, with a drop of -62%; manufacturing of transport equipment with a decrease of -16%; and the industry of drinks y tobaccowith a drop of -3 percent.

From April to June 2022, the automotive exports They exceeded the figures reached before the pandemic, but they are still lower than the maximum obtained in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Foreign sales of New Lion in the second quarter of the year they reached 13,385 million dollars, an amount that exceeds that reached prior to the pandemic by 52.5 percent.

Also the export sales of transport equipment they increased 26.5%, however, the amount is lower than the maximum registered in the fourth quarter of 2018, by 5,441 million dollars.

On the contrary, the subsectors with the greatest increase in the value of their exports, from the fourth quarter of 2018 to the second quarter of this 2022, have been: wood industry, 296%; the manufacturing of computer equipmentcommunication, measurement and other electronic equipment, components and accessories, 155%, and those of basic metal industries115%, among others.

The director of Coparmex Nuevo LeonCecilia Carrillo López, highlighted that in the second quarter of this year New Lion It was the third entity in the country with the highest value in its exports, only surpassed by Chihuahua and Coahuila.

“Nuevo León is one of the main players in foreign trade in Mexico, the development that its industry has achieved places it as one of the states with the greatest attraction for foreign direct investment (FDI).

“That is why the importance, and our insistence that governments should prioritize investment spending, because companies need infrastructure to gain competitiveness, and also staff, families willing to work, who in turn demand services that only the federal, state and municipal public sector,” he demanded.

We need orderly growth, where industrial development is consistent with the urban and social evolution that Nuevo León needs, because we currently have situations with a very negative impact on mobility, safety, and education.
