The Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza was able to remove a one-kilogram shrapnel from the shoulder of a 60-year-old Palestinian man.
Palestinian doctor Jamal Ayyad said that the medical staff at the Al-Amal Hospital affiliated with the Red Crescent in Khan Yunis told us about an injured person who was complaining of a deep wound in the upper back with suspicion of the presence of a foreign body inside his body.
After conducting the necessary examinations and x-rays, the medical team decided to perform surgery to extract the foreign body.
Pictures published by the Palestinian Red Crescent showed the large size of the shrapnel that injured the elderly Palestinian in a bombing by the Israeli occupation forces.
The operation carried out by the hospital's medical staff was successful, despite the scarcity of available medical capabilities and the occupation's continued siege and targeting of the hospital's surroundings.
