Zhao Liu, a singer and actress who has starred in several Chinese films and TV series, shared her “cosmetic nightmare” with 5 million followers on the Chinese site “Weibo”, similar to “Twitter”, to warn them of the potential danger of plastic surgery. An argument online, after sharing photos that revealed the tip of her nose had rotted and fell off.
Zhao Liu wrote in the post explaining that she underwent a rhinoplasty at the “Xi Shi Shi Guang” clinic in Guangzhou, southern China, after a friend introduced her to a plastic surgeon there.
The four-hour operation involved removing cartilage from Gao’s body and using it to reshape the actress’s nose.
“I did not expect these four hours to be the beginning of a nightmare,” she added. The pictures she posted of her face show a clear stain of black flesh on the tip of her nose, in addition to bandages and bruises.
Gao indicated that she had hoped the surgery would improve her acting career.
She explained that what she believed was a subtle modification of the cartilage grafting at the tip of her nose in late October, “led to cartilage injury, which required frequent follow-up operations.”
Gao explained that her nose felt “irritated and tingling” after the operation, before she became infected repeatedly, despite her doctor’s assurance that she would be able to recover and return to work within two months.
The actress said the botched operation left her “devastated by suicidal thoughts”.
While she later discovered that that plastic surgery hospital was not qualified to perform rhinoplasty, as a result, the actress was hospitalized for two months, losing 400,000 yuan (about £ 45,200), and she faces an additional two million yuan (about £ 225,621). For violating her work contracts signed by her.
Gao has to wait at least a year for another possible reconstructive surgery due to the seriousness of her nose injury, and is currently negotiating with the hospital for compensation.
Zhao’s post quickly drew sympathy from Chinese social media users who called for tightening regulations for the country’s plastic surgery industry, with one commentator writing: “The hospital should take responsibility and be severely punished! I am so sad for Zhao .. People need to be. Take this as a warning, plastic surgery has its risks! ”
Another user posted, addressing the actress: “You used to be amazing, so why do you need to go through this? Learned the lesson.”
