Families of Israeli detainees closed in Gaza StripToday, Tuesday, a main road in Tel Aviv, as part of escalating steps to pressure the Israeli government to conclude a prisoner exchange deal with the Islamic Resistance Movement (agitation) leading to the release of their families.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the families of the prisoners closed the Ayalon Road in Tel Aviv, and accused the Israeli Prime Minister of Benjamin Netanyahu By seeking to thwart efforts to reach an agreement that would lead to the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal.
The protesters raised a large red banner reading, “We want an agreement now.” They also uploaded pictures of Israeli prisoners in Gaza with the phrase “Send them back to their homes.”
This comes after reports in Israeli media reported yesterday, Monday, that the head of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, David Barnea, informed the families of Israelis detained in Gaza that the chances of reaching a prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas have become weak.
Despite the Qatari and Egyptian mediation efforts that have been ongoing for months, and the many proposals presented to put an end to the Israeli war of genocide in Gaza and the exchange of prisoners, Netanyahu continues to set new conditions that hinder ceasefire efforts.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s proposals include continuing Israeli control over the Philadelphia border axis between Gaza and Egypt, and the Rafah crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, and preventing the return of Palestinian faction fighters to the northern Gaza Strip, by inspecting those returning to the north at the Netzarim corridor in the central Gaza Strip.
On the other hand, Hamas insists on a complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip and a complete cessation of the war in order to accept any agreement.
Israeli estimates indicate that there are 101 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, while Hamas says that dozens of them were killed in Israeli raids targeting the Strip.
