Vice President of the “Fatah” movement Mahmoud Al-Aloul said that the meeting between Sheikh and Barghouti was quiet, important and effective, and everyone, including Marwan Barghouti, agreed that “Fatah” would run in the elections with a unified list.
This comes after news of Barghouti’s intention to run for the Palestinian presidency, at a time when the “Fatah” movement had announced that its candidate was the current president, Mahmoud Abbas.
Al-Aloul indicated in a televised interview that the movement’s central committee held weekly meetings to discuss the details of the election file, stressing that consultations would be held with the two prisoners, Marwan Barghouti and Karim Younis, on these details.
Aloul said that the Central Committee of the “Fatah” movement is united and tasks have been distributed to all its members, stressing that it will never accept obstructing the elections.
Palestinian elections are scheduled to take place for the first time in 15 years in all the Palestinian territories, on May 22 for the legislative elections, and on July 31 for the presidential elections.
