Federal government placed 4,000 million dollars in debt bonds

The Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) reported that the federal government placed this Tuesday 4,000 million pesos in debt bonds with terms of 5 and 12 years.

However, the placement of the bonds It reached a demand of 18.4 billion dollars, the equivalent of 4.6 times the total amount placed, which makes it the issuance of external debt in Mexico that has reached the highest demand since April 2020.

The SHCP, in charge of Rogelio Ramirez de la Oexplained that 383 institutional investors from America, Europe, Asia and Oceania participated in the operation.

In the breakdown of the amount issued, it was detailed that 1,250 million dollars came from the 5-year bond and 2,750 million dollars from the 12-year bond. The coupon rates that new referrals will pay are 5.40% and 6.35%, respectively.

“The Federal Government will continue to monitor the conditions in the international financial markets in order to identify windows of opportunity that allow it to continue covering its external financing needs under favorable conditions,” the agency said.

Likewise, the SHCP reiterates its commitment to use public debt responsibly and in accordance with the public policy objectives necessary to have healthy public finances, an essential element for the sustainable economic growth of our country.

For his part, in the Annual Financing Plan 2023, the SHCP detailed that they will work on the management of liabilities to improve the maturity profile of the debt portfolio; it will remain active in the search for windows of opportunity in the financial markets in order to meet financing needs; and, it will be flexible to adapt its financing strategy to the prevailing conditions in the economic environment.
