Teollisuuden Voima, the owner of the Olkiluoto power plant in Finland, said that the second power unit at this station has been reconnected to the Finnish power grid.
On December 10, the company stated that this unit was urgently disconnected from the network.
“Unit No. 2 at Olkiluoto Station was reconnected to the Finnish national electricity grid yesterday, at eleven o’clock in the evening on December 19 local time. The unit will be operational at full capacity on Tuesday, December 22nd,” the company added in its statement.
On December 10, the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority reported an emergency at the Olkiluoto plant, resulting in the disconnection of the second power unit. The authority did not provide any details.
For its part, the International Atomic Energy Agency said on Friday that the accident at the Finnish nuclear power plant did not pose a threat to the safety of the environment and people.
The agency stressed that the radiation level in the station and its surroundings are still at normal levels.
