Huge fire breaks out in Melbourne’s CBD blanketing the city in thick black smoke and forcing workers to flee offices
Office workers were forced to flee their Melbourne CBD building after a fire broke out on the rooftop.
Police closed the intersection between Queen Street and Bourke Street on Tuesday afternoon after they were alerted to the fire.
Footage taken in the region showed thick, black smoke billowing from the complex and blanketing the sky.
Emergency services have since managed to get the fire under control and contained it to the building’s rooftop.
Fire crews remain on the scene and police have cordoned off much of the area.
Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
More to come.
