(Trends Wide) — At least five people were hospitalized Wednesday night after a shooting at a Fort Lauderdale apartment complex, Florida Police Chief Patrick Lynn said at a press conference.
“We had a group of people gathered in the yard, a second group of people confronted them, shots were fired as a result,” Lynn said. “Now we have confirmed five people in the hospital. I will not give information about the status at this time.”
It is not clear what kind of injuries the five hospitalized victims have.
The shooting occurred just before 8:45 pm ET, at an apartment complex “in the area of NW 19 Street and NW 29 Avenue,” police said.
Police are asking for the public’s help in “identifying the suspects involved,” Lynn said.
