During a recent visit to SiriusXM, Florence and the Machine delivered a timely Halloween-themed performance, with frontwoman Florence Welch offering a haunting mashup of the band’s 2015 track “Which Witch” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.”
Backed by a stunning harp, Welch opened with the song from the album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful before an evocative fiddle and flute interlude transitioned into the Gaga cover. The band then concluded the performance by returning to “Which Witch.”
The timing of the cover was particularly noteworthy. During her Chromatica Ball tour stop in Barcelona, Lady Gaga performed “Hey Girl,” her 2016 duet with Welch from the album Joanne, for the first time live.
This exchange highlights the artists’ long-standing mutual admiration. After their collaboration, Gaga praised Welch in an interview, calling her “one of the greatest singers in the world.” Welch has also expressed her appreciation for Gaga’s early music, recently telling an interviewer, “In 2009, I was only listening to Lady Gaga, that was it.”
Welch’s SiriusXM appearance comes as she promotes Florence and the Machine’s upcoming album, Everybody Scream, which is scheduled for release on Friday. The record is the follow-up to their 2022 album, Dance Fever.
