(Trends Wide) — The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, a candidate for the Republican nomination in the United States presidential elections, met this Monday in Tokyo, Japan, with the Prime Minister of that country, Fumio Kishida.
During the meeting, the two exchanged views on “regional issues,” with Kishida stating that he hopes “DeSantis’ visit to Japan will lead to further strengthening of the Japan-US and Japan-Florida relationship,” according to a report. Japanese Foreign Ministry statement published on Monday.
DeSantis added: “Japan is an important partner for the US and Florida,” the statement added.
DeSantis is traveling to Japan, South Korea, Israel and the United Kingdom to meet with officials from those countries as part of an “international trade mission,” according to his office.
