(CNN) — A court hearing was held in Los Angeles on Thursday related to the petition that Priscilla Presley filed in January challenging the validity of the will of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
Priscilla Presley did not appear, and neither did her granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, who is the main beneficiary of Lisa Marie Presley’s estate.
The court on Thursday considered a unilateral petition filed by Michael Lockwood, the father of Lisa Marie Presley’s minor daughters, twins Finley and Harper, to be named his legal representative in connection with his late mother’s will.
Scott Rahn, Lockwood’s attorney, said he is “ready, able and willing to protect your interests.”
Lawyers for Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough did not challenge Lockwood’s appointment as their legal representative.
Judge Lynn Healy Scaduto said she would issue a written ruling on the matter.
Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley, died in January after being hospitalized after apparent cardiac arrest at her Los Angeles home.
In a court filing obtained by CNN, Priscilla Presley’s petition disputes a 2016 amendment to her daughter’s will that states Lisa Marie Presley removed her mother and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, as co-trustees, replacing them with her children. Riley and Benjamin Keough. Benjamin Keough later passed away, in 2020.
The petition alleges that Priscilla Presley did not receive the modification during her daughter’s lifetime, as required by her trust, and that Priscilla’s name is misspelled on the document. The petition also says the amendment was not witnessed or notarized and called into question the authenticity of Lisa Marie Presley’s signature.
Priscilla Presley’s lawyers filed the petition just days after Lisa Marie Presley was laid to rest at Graceland, Elvis’ former residence.
The next hearing to deal with the matter is scheduled for May 16.
