A Pakistani official said today, Friday, that his country has signed a new 10-year deal to obtain supplies of liquefied natural gas from Qatar.
Nadim Babar, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Petroleum, said in a press conference that the deal would initially be at the rate of two shipments per month, and would increase to 4 shipments per month in the coming years.
He pointed out that the shipments under the new agreement would be priced at a discount of 10.2% to the global Brent crude price, according to Reuters.
Qatar is one of the world’s leading exporters of LNG, and according to data from the global energy site Hellenicshippingnews, Qatar will strengthen its position in Asia, which witnesses the largest demand for gas supplies in 2021.
The site added that Qatar controls 21% of the global LNG supply.
