The 2022 series of Bosco’s Camp and the National Off Road Circuit are close to that of the season, so the organizers have prepared a very special day. The destination was the state of San Luis Potosí, as it has enviable landscapes and favorable terrain for the practice of 4×4 because most of the year it is semi-desert.

Thus, 15 participants gathered on the last weekend of October. Some traveled to the venue from different parts of the country such as Mexico City, Puebla, Veracruz, among others. Due to the long distances, some decided to arrive a day in advance to rest and take advantage of a final mechanical inspection. In addition, it must be added that the agenda marked the start of the actions at 7 in the morning on Saturday, which implied for the vast majority the fact of having to get up early. For that day, it began with the classic “Energy Breakfast” and Subsequently, the attendees received precise indications of what would be one of the most challenging routes in the series.

It must be remembered that the Huasteca Potosina is a region dominated by rivers, waterfalls and large ditches and holes in the ground, so the attendees lived a weekend of emotion and tension. The danger of falling into one of these traps was very great if the indications of the leading car and the marked trajectory were not followed.

Conviviality and fun

Along the route, the attendees had the opportunity to see little-visited places, which is why they are in a very good state of conservation. One of them was the Tamul Waterfall, with its impressive height of 105 meters. The place allowed to park the vehicles so that the participants could walk and reach the highest part of the river to enjoy the area and the landscape.

It was also possible to climb in the Cueva del Agua and in the famous Sótano de las Golondrinas with its 60 meters in diameter and 512 meters deep. At every meter, the enthusiasts enjoyed not only the views and landscapes that Mexico offers, but also got to know in depth what a 4×4 vehicle is capable of.

And it is that, in addition to the relentless Jeep and a Ford Bronco Badlands, we have the visit of a GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, a model that not only breathes luxury, but is also made to face different obstacles.

The route had a total distance of 92 kilometers that were covered from 8 in the morning when the caravan left the hotel chosen for the initial meeting until after 9 at night when we returned to the starting point.

The difficulty was an obstacle that all the participants were able to overcome because it gradually increased, which helped them gain confidence in themselves and in their vehicles.

As is customary, upon reaching the beginning of the dirt road, the tire pressure was lowered to achieve the best footprint and traction capacity. It was necessary for the cars to keep a safe distance between them because so much dust was raised on the dry floor of the area, visibility in most of the time was minimal.

Barely 4 kilometers later they came across the first overpass, a ditch with a depth of close to one meter. The vehicles equipped with a detachable stabilizer bar passed without problems, the rest had to do so paying maximum attention to the indications of the route leader, Juan Bosco, so as not to get trapped.

Then followed slopes of more than 30 degrees, rocky ground, a muddy area due to a rain that occurred days before, as well as a good number of angle changes and stone walls.
