For “Plan B”, members of the General Executive Board of the INE resign

members of the Expanded General Executive Board of the National Electoral Institute (INE)a body that disappears by electoral reform decree (Plan B) of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador y Morena, submitted their irrevocable resignation, effective between March 31 and April 3, 2023.

The resignations, which were agreed with the president counselor, Lorenzo Cordovawere presented to release the new Presidency of the INE which will take office on April 4, to propose those who will lead the respective executive and technical areas of the institution.

On April 4th, three new ministries and the new Presidency of the General Council will join the INE.

It should be noted that the members of the Executive General Board are proposed by the Council Presidency and must be voted for by a qualified majority of eight votes. The Board is headed by the Presidency of the General Council and is made up of the head of the Executive Secretariat and 16 public officials.

Those who presented their resignation today are: Ana Laura Martínez de Lara, Executive Director of Administration; Jacqueline Vargas Arellanes, Head of the Technical Inspection Unit; Carlos Alberto Ferrer Silva, Head of the Electoral Litigation Technical Unit; Gabriel Mendoza Elvira, Legal Director; Daniela Casar García, Director of the Secretariat; Cecilia del Carmen Azuara Arai, Head of the Technical Unit for Transparency and Protection of Personal Data; Laura Liselotte Correa de la Torre, Head of the Technical Unit for Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination, and Rubén Álvarez Mendiola, National Coordinator of Social Communication.

In order to guarantee the proper development of the electoral processes in progress in the State of Mexico and Coahuila, the following will continue in their current responsibilities: Miguel Ángel Patiño Arroyo, Head of the Technical Unit for Liaison with Local Public Organizations, and Jorge Humberto Torres Antuñano, Coordinator General of the Technical Unit of Computer Services.

In addition, they remain in their responsibilities, María del Refugio García López, Executive Director of the National Electoral Professional Service, who will leave her position on April 1 to occupy the Executive Board of the INE in Hidalgo, and Sergio Bernal Rojas, Executive Director of Electoral Organization , who on the same date will leave that Directorate to occupy the Executive Board of the INE in Quintana Roo.

The public servants who are now in charge of the Office of the following Executive Directorates are also maintained: Jesús Ojeda Luna, Federal Register of Voters and Claudia Urbina Esparza, Prerogatives and Political Parties. Rafael Riva Palacio, in charge of the Office of the Coordination of International Affairs, will also continue.
