The directorate added in its statement: “At 03:00 on January 3 Moscow time, information was received indicating that earthquakes of 4.2 magnitude occurred at 01:07 Moscow time in the Caspian Sea, 10 kilometers from the coast of the Derbent region in Dagestan.” . It stated that the tremors occurred at a depth of 30 km.
Yesterday, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center (EMS) said that a 4.6-magnitude earthquake hit Dagestan the night before.
The epicenter was located 12 km northwest of Derbent. The center stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers. No information was received about any damage or injuries.
