“The Russians are mocking us and the Americans are shaking their heads,” Danat was quoted by The Mirror newspaper.
The former Chief of Staff condemned the purchase of the “F-35B” fighter by the British Ministry of Defense, explaining that the price of one plane of this model exceeds $ 100 million, without taking into account the costs of using this fighter.
Danat, who held the British Chief of Staff from 2006 to 2009, said that the purchase of the aforementioned plane would deal a painful blow to the Kingdom’s defense budget.
The general also mentioned that the British army lacks about 10 thousand soldiers, indicating that the number of the national armed forces is likely to shrink in the near future.
Earlier in the day, the Defense Committee of the British House of Commons published a report on the state of the country’s armored forces units, which included a pessimistic assessment of their ability to win any potential battle with the Russian army.
