The former president of FIFA, the Swiss national, Joseph Blatter, was taken to hospital on Thursday, according to local newspapers, citing his daughter.
The newspaper “Blake” quoted his daughter Corinne Blatter as saying: “My father is in the hospital. He is improving on a daily basis, but he needs time and rest,” noting that his health condition is serious, but his life is not in danger.
She added, “On behalf of my family, I ask that our privacy be respected.”
The newspaper pointed out that this is not the first time that Blatter has been hospitalized, as he suffered from health problems in 2015 after his immune system collapsed.
He also entered the ICU in 2016 due to melanoma and knee pain.
Blatter, 84, was forced to resign from his post in 2015, 17 years after his election as president of the International Federation, due to a bribery scandal that shook the corners of the football organization and affected him personally, and he was suspended for six years, due to his payment of two million dollars to the former president of UEFA, Frenchman Michel Platini.
