Atlanta Hawks star and former Oklahoma basketball standout Trae Young has been announced as the celebrity guest picker for ESPN’s College GameDay, broadcasting live from Norman this Saturday. Young is scheduled to join hosts Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban on the South Oval set around 10:40 a.m. for the show’s final segment.
In a video shared by the program on social media, Young stated, “I’m ready to set the tone, we know what we gotta do.”
The popular pregame show is in town for the marquee matchup between Oklahoma and Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on ABC. The last time College GameDay visited Norman, for the 2023 game against Tennessee, country music star Blake Shelton served as the guest picker.
During his lone season with the Sooners in 2017-18, Young was an All-American, averaging an impressive 27.4 points and 8.7 assists per game while leading the team to the NCAA Tournament. He was later selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
