LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A Fort Myers man accused of animal cruelty was arrested after allegedly injuring his household canine, officers stated.
Jose Hernandez-Rivera, 28, is accused of hitting his household’s canine with a broomstick as a result of he was mad at it for barking, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace stated. After getting hit, the canine was unable to place weight on her leg as a result of it was damaged, deputies stated.
A witness instructed deputies that Hernandez-Rivera stated: “It’s solely a canine.”
The canine, named Canela, was taken to Blue Pearl veterinary hospital the place she is being evaluated. Canela is a 2-year-old chihuahua-poodle-terrier combine that weighs about 20 kilos, deputies stated.
Canela was signed over to animal management as a result of her household couldn’t afford her veterinarian payments.
Hernandez-Rivera was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail simply after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. He faces one depend of ‘Conservation-Animals, inflict ache and severe harm’, in keeping with an arrest report.
