Fortnite is set to launch its latest installment, Chapter 6, Season 4, trading the previous season’s superheroes for a new conflict against an insectoid invasion.
An official announcement on Wednesday set the tone for the update: “At attention, soldier. The orders are in, so charge headfirst into the hive! The bugs out there? Vicious, relentless, swarming. The vermin are dug in deep, and drawing out the queen won’t be easy.”
Players will be challenged to “neutralize the infestation with the latest and greatest high-tech tools” and ensure the “bad bugs bite the bullet.”
To implement the update, the game will undergo scheduled maintenance. The current season, Chapter 6, Season 3, is scheduled to end at 12:30 a.m. CDT on Thursday, Aug. 7, at which point the server downtime will begin. This maintenance typically lasts between two and five hours, placing the estimated launch time for the new season around 5:30 a.m. CDT.
However, players should be aware that past updates have sometimes experienced extended downtime due to unforeseen issues.
