Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho – not a bad front three for any team.
Frank Lampard had many memorable battles with all of the legendary forwards and when it came to choosing a seven-a-side team, it was impossible to leave any of them out.
Lampard was speaking at a virtual Q&A hosted by Hyundai where kids from their partner clubs were able to put their questions to the Chelsea boss.
Frank Lampard picked seven-a-side team of the best opponents he has played against
Six-time Ballon d’Or winner and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi was included in the team
Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo also made the cut alongside his long-standing rival Messi
When asked to pick a team made up of the best opponents he faced during his career, it was a case of all out attack.
‘It’s Neuer, Rio (Ferdinand), Steven Gerrard, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Messi and Ronaldo,’ said the Chelsea manager.
Lampard had many battles at club level with former England team-mates Ferdinand and Gerrard while he also had memorable duels with Messi and Ronaldinho on the European stage.
Neuer was the Bayern Munich goalkeeper when Lampard captained Chelsea to their only Champions League trophy in 2012 and he was also between the sticks for Germany when England were beaten in the World Cup in 2010 – with Lampard famously having a goal not given, despite his strike crossing the line.

The manager was also asked to choose between Messi and Ronaldo with the Blues boss opting for the Barcelona legend.
‘I’m gonna go Messi on this on pure, natural talent but what Ronaldo has done has been absolutely incredible.’
When it came to the toughest opponents he faced during his Stamford Bridge career, it was another two Barca players that came to mind.
‘The two that I name when I say against is Xavi and Iniesta at Barcelona. They were great players, they were kind of not the biggest and quite slight.
‘It just shows it doesn’t matter, because sometimes people think you have to be huge to be a footballer player. You don’t.’
Chelsea’s official automotive partner, Hyundai, hosted an exclusive virtual Q&A, hosted by Sky Sports presenter Laura Woods, with Frank Lampard to launch the second season of Hyundai FC. You can watch the full video here.
