Frank Lampard claims he is happy with the clean sheet his Chelsea side earned in their 0-0 draw against Tottenham on Sunday – but maintained his side should have won the game.

Lampard’s Blues dominated the possession and created more goalscoring chances against Spurs, but couldn’t find a way through as Jose Mourinho’s side returned to the top of the Premier League table.

Chelsea missed the chance to go top of the table themselves by failing to find a way past Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham goal though Lampard claimed his side did well to deny the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min goalscoring chances.

When asked whether the draw was a ‘good point’, Lampard told Sky Sports: ‘I’ll tell you at the end of the season when it all comes together.

‘Against this Tottenham team who’ve got players in form who can cause you real problems as we saw last week, I’m happy with clean sheet but in game play we should win.

‘I expected us to have a lot of possession which we did. I thought it would be hard to create chances, I thought we created enough to win the game. So we had good control, the clean sheet factor (is good) when we’re against a team that are made to counter attack and have amazing players.

‘I thought that part of the game to deal with Harry Kane and Son particularly was impressive as we didn’t give them a sniff. But we didn’t take our chances.’

Chelsea had two major goalscoring chances of note on Sunday night but failed to make them count. Mason Mount nearly gave the Blues a second-half lead but his shot from the area was denied by Spurs captain Lloris.

In the dying moments of the game, Olivier Giroud picked up on a defensive error by Spurs’ Joe Rodon but could only fire straight at Lloris from a tight angle.

Speaking about the chances, Lampard added: ‘Lloris makes a world class save from Mount. (We had) crosses coming into the box (and) we need to make better connection and make keeper make saves.

Lampard also claimed Olivier Giroud's last-minute chance was a big chance in the bore draw

‘And also Oli has a chance but (I) can’t complain too much at him as he won the game mid-week (against Rennes) and he just came on but he’s the man you want in those positions on his left foot.’

Spurs boss Mourinho, meanwhile, claimed his side were not happy with the point despite the club picking up only one league win in 30 years.

The Tottenham manager said: ‘My dressing room is not happy. That’s the best thing I take from the game we’re not happy and that for me is fantastic. That’s a complete change of mentality and personality.

‘You can tell us we didn’t have many chances and I agree but how many did they have? That’s the thing that makes me happy we’re not happy with a draw at Stamford Bridge.’
