Israeli crime was not limited to innocent civilians Gaza stripRather, it affected journalists and media professionals working to convey the truth to the outside world, and yesterday the Israeli bombing targeted another voice of truth in Gaza, where Palestine TV correspondent Muhammad Abu Hatab was martyred, joining dozens of his colleagues, including the Al Jazeera correspondent. Sherine Abu Aqla.
The occupation assassinated Abu Hatab and a number of his family members after targeting his home in Khan Yunis recently during his coverage of the occupation’s aggression against Gaza, in an attempt by the occupation to prevent him from conveying his message to the world.
The last message of the martyr of the free word stated: “We see all these painful scenes that bleed the hearts of our people, and this wound is still bleeding.”
Before the martyr Abu Hatab, Al Jazeera correspondent Sherine Abu Aqla was assassinated by occupation bullets on May 11, 2022, while covering the Israeli attack on Jenin.
Before her assassination, Sherine expressed her pride in her work and the message she carries out while fighting the occupation, as she said in her statements: “You feel that you were able to convey the voice of these people and maintain your message and professionalism… It is a great responsibility.”
Those with free speech no longer feel safe watching their colleagues being targeted, even though they wear the journalist badges that are supposed to protect them.
One of the martyr Abu Hatab’s colleagues exploded in anger and took off his media uniform on live air, saying, “There is no international protection at all and no immunity for anything. These shields and hats do not protect us. They are just slogans that we wear and do not protect any journalist at all.”
He added, “We are victims here on live television. We lose lives one after another at no cost. We remain martyrs only with the time difference and wait for our turn. Our colleague Muhammad Abu Hatab was only here half an hour ago, and now we have left with his wife, son, and brother.”
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation had targeted the family of Al Jazeera correspondent in Gaza, Wael Al-Dahdouh, which led to the martyrdom of his wife Amna (Umm Hamza), his 16-year-old son Mahmoud, and his six-year-old daughter Sham, as well as his grandson Adam, an infant who came into this world only 45 days ago. .
