The Cleveland Cavaliers added their fourth consecutive victory in the Oklahoma City Thunder pavilion (107-102). The team led by JB Bickerstaff continues to collect accolades wherever they go. However, one of his players shines with his own light: Darius Garland.
The point guard finished the game with impressive numbers, 27 points, 5 rebounds and 18 assists, which aroused multiple praise. The first to react was his teammate Kevin Love, who was not available for the game. The veteran center showed through Twitter his disbelief with the performance that his partner was doing. In addition, he took advantage of the message to ask for votes for Garland to participate in the next All-Star.
He wasn’t the only one. Former NBA champion with the Cavs, Channing Frye, also took to social media to say Garland should make the All-Star team “easy.” Notably, the Cavs haven’t had an All-Star player since LeBron James and Kevin Love did in the 2017-18 season. For fans of the team, it would be special to see a player from their team get it this year, since the game will be played at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Garland, at the very least, has earned consideration for next February’s All-Star game. So far this season, he is averaging 19.7 points and 7.8 assists per game. The second All-Star fan voting update was released recently and Garland remained in ninth place among Eastern Conference shooting guards. What seems clear is that, playing at this level, he is closer to achieving it.
