GE Healthcare is ready to continue growing in Mexico

GE Healthcare –GE’s medical equipment business– sees a lot of potential in the Mexican marketbecause our country needs more health services and investments are made for these services to happen, as stated in an interview for El Economista, Guillermo Murra, Executive Director of GE Healthcare Mexico.

“We see the entry of international investment funds to invest in the Mexican market, in the private sector, and we see a lot of interest in the current public administration to invest in technologies and health administration,” said the manager.

For this reason, Murra considers that the scenario is promising and thinks that the market will grow“We are very firm and ready to continue growing in Mexico,” he said.

At the moment, GE Healthcare has large divisions of important technologies that span diagnostic imagingwhose technology helps doctors make decisions or perform minimally invasive surgeries (using CT scanners, MRIs, x-rays, mammograms, to name a few).

the business of ultrasoundin which the company is world leader (with gynecologic and obstetric ultrasound, for cardiology, radiology and for general use); the business of life supportwith equipment that helps doctors care for and preserve the lives of patients (anesthesia machines, monitors, incubators and cribs for newborns, among other technologies).

and a business of pharmawhich sells specialty drug contrast media for diagnostics such as Alzheimer y Parkinson.

Regarding the role that our country plays as part of the global strategy of the new company GE Healthcare, Guillermo Murra explained that MexicoLike most countries in the world, has a significant health need, in addition to a population that is growing and aging, and that will require more and more health services.

For this reason, The company is focused on working with public and private institutions to better understand how to provide them with technologies, and prepare them for this health scenario in which they have to be.

In this regard, he added that As part of GE Healthcare’s strategic plan, they are hiring to grow their ability to provide technical services to their customers.“we grew our base of engineers by 15%, field engineers who provide technical services, because this equipment and these technologies, is not only the implementation but the maintenance for the operation”.

No impact on customers or operations due to the separation from GE Healthcare.

Regarding how GEHC’s operation and service will be affected by the separation of GE in the Mexican market, the executive explained that really, both for his clients and for his operation, the decision does not represent any change, since GE Healthcare had operated as an independent company for many years, although it responded to a conglomerate.

“Nothing changes in the operation at the local level, the changes are more at the international level”, “We do not see that at the local level it will see any kind of affectation for our clients, nor for our operationfor at least the last nine years we have operated as a practically independent company”.
