On an election day that will last 38 hours, the workers at the General Motors of the Silao plant, will vote to elect their new union representation, after the collective bargaining agreement was dissolved on November 3.
In a summons issued by the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration, it was detailed that there are three trade union organizations interested, it is the National Independent Union of Workers of the Automotive Industry; National Union of Workers of the Automotive and Metallurgical Industry in the Mexican Republic, and the National Union of Workers and Employees of the Autotransport, Construction, Automotive, Autoparts, Similar and Related Industries of the Mexican Republic, CTM
The more than 6,000 workers must cast their free, secret and direct vote, as long as they are on the electoral roll and they can only elect a single union organization, since each one has demonstrated before the labor authority that it has the support of 30% of the workers, why it should be decided on the one with the greatest representativeness.
Even though the “Miguel Trujillo” Union, led by Tereso Medina, does not participate in the contest, the contenders have pointed out that two of the unions, especially the CTM, are part of the previous union organization.
The National Independent Union of Workers in the Automotive Industry has campaigned extensively for change within the General Motors plant.
For the day of the vote: it should be considered that:
- That they appear in the reliable register.
- Identify themselves with a government-issued photo ID to the designated official.
- Only those who appear on the list will be able to vote.
- Each voter must sign the official voting roll.
