(Trends Wide) — A Georgia County police officer got quite a surprise when he pulled over a speeding vehicle late last month.
While on patrol June 20, a Henry County police officer pulled over a Dodge Charger going 150 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
As the officer approached the Charger, he recognized the person behind the wheel as Henry County Deputy Sheriff’s Michael Yarbrough.
In video captured by the officer’s dash and body cameras, the officer returns to his patrol car and calls another person in connection with the stop.
“Guess who I just pulled over,” the officer says to an unidentified person on the phone.
“Deputy sheriff, driving a f***ing Dodge Charger. F*****g sheriff’s office Dodge Charger. I just grabbed this c****na 150 in 50,” he continues.
“Do I violate it?” he asks the person on the phone.
When told that it’s his stop and his decision, the cop responds, “Well, you know I don’t care. So I’m going to give him a ticket.”
The officer issued a citation to Yarbrough.
In a statement, Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett stated: “Deputy Sheriff (Yarbrough) informed me immediately after the traffic stop that he had been issued a speeding citation. Any Any question regarding the citation itself should be directed to the Henry County Police Department. After reviewing the facts of the incident, I have suspended the Deputy Chief for forty hours without pay for the severity of the traffic citation.”
A sheriff’s office spokesperson confirmed to Trends Wide that Yarbrough was on duty at the time of the incident, but was not driving with his lights or sirens on.
Trends Wide has not been able to contact Yarbrough for comment.
Henry County Police did not issue a statement about the traffic stop.
