Yesterday, Saturday, thousands of citizens took to the streets of different German cities to protest against the restrictions imposed by the government to limit the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
About a thousand demonstrators gathered in front of the Ministry of Health headquarters in the center of the capital, Berlin, and police arrested 50 of them for violating health directives and safety rules, while a small group of people organized a counter-demonstration at the same site.
Meanwhile, Dresden, the epicenter of the eastern state of Saxony, has seen clashes between police and protesters who number at least 1,000.
The police temporarily detained a 36-year-old man, and arrested three others, in connection with the clashes that resulted in the injury of 12 of its members.
And in the city of Stuttgart, the center of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in southwestern Germany, about 750 demonstrators, many of whom did not wear masks, took to the streets under the slogan “Enough this much.”
A press team for the local public broadcaster SWR was assaulted by protesters, but no injuries were reported.
In the city of Munich, the center of the state of Bavaria in the south of the country, police dispersed a demonstration held in front of the state parliament.
According to police data, 2.5 thousand people participated in the demonstration, although the maximum number was 500.
In the city of Düsseldorf in the west of the country, two thousand demonstrators took to the streets, while in the center of the ancestral state of Saxony, the city of Hanover organized a demonstration with the participation of several hundred people.
These demonstrations come against the backdrop of the German government extending the strict restrictions imposed to deter the outbreak of Corona until at least March 28.
