As they often warned in Game of Thrones, winter is coming. That means chillier temperatures are right around the corner, and if you don’t want to be huddled under a blanket or winter coat all season long, the time to start preparing is now. Like an air conditioning unit in the summertime, space heaters can become your best friend once the cold weather arrives, and will likely be flying off the shelves in just a few short months.

To help you get ahead of the madness, we’ve gone ahead and rounded up eight deals on top-rated space heaters you can get right now to avoid being price-gouged come December. From mini desk heaters to fancy models that will warm an entire room quickly, these sale picks are sure to be a welcome addition to any home—just be sure to take safety precautions if you have little ones in the house, as many models can become hot to the touch while in use.
1. 25% off: A pint-sized heater that packs a big punch
Ideal for an at-home workspace or cozy bedroom, the Lasko 754200 ($28.84) is a small-but-mighty personal space heater that took us by surprise with its powerful stream of hot air. Although it’s limited in that it only expels heat in one direction, we chose it as our favorite affordable pick for its compact, lightweight size. It features an adjustable thermostat and concealed carrying handle and will also automatically shut off if it starts to overheat. Walmart shoppers love it too: With an overall 4.5-star rating from more than 1,000 reviewers, you can trust it’s a reliable pick that offers incredible value. While this little guy’s not currently on sale, the near-identical Lasko CD09250 is marked down from $31.99 to $23.88 at Amazon. Boasting all the same features as the 754200, this model is just 0.2-inches shorter than our best value winner.
2. $130 off: A sleek, attractive model from a trusted brand
Unique in its design, this Dyson Hot+Cool Jet Focus AM09 triples as a space heater, a cooling fan and an air purifier, making it a great investment for year-round use. While slightly less powerful than other models we tested, it blew its competitors out of the water in the safety department with its kid- and pet-friendly design, which has no exposed heating element. We had to knock it down a few rankings for its expensive $449.99 price tag, but shoppers can currently save a whopping $131.07 on this pick at QVC, as it’s fallen to just $318.92 in all three colorways (plus you’ll get free standard shipping!).
3. A $20 discount: This chic space heater with an oscillating fan
Unlike many other space heaters on this list, the Lasko 6435 takes appearance into account with its elegant design, which allows you to proudly display it on tables or countertops. It wasn’t the most powerful of the bunch compared to the other space heaters we tested but we found it to be a great spot heater, thanks to its oscillating motor. With an average 4.6-star rating, more than 1,200 Walmart shoppers have deemed it a worthy option as well. Once $69.99, this Lasko is currently up for grabs for just $50.18 at Home Depot, which adds up to a total savings of $19.81.
4. $10 in savings: A slim model with infrared heat
One of the major downsides to owning a space heater is finding a place to put it, as some options can be fairly bulky in size. For those in smaller apartments with limited space, this LifeSmart three-element infrared quartz wall heater is a solid choice. It’s the smaller, 3-quartz version of one of our favorite space heaters, the LifeSmart six-element infrared heater ($119.99), which we liked because it was one of the only models we tested that didn’t decrease the moisture in the room—a major bonus given the dryness in the air during wintertime. This unit in particular, which was once $99.99 and is currently $10 cheaper at Northern Tool, features two infrared quartz heating elements and one Smart Boost element for faster heating, three heat settings and a 12-hour programmable timer. Wrote one reviewer: “This heater is a dream. It’s mounted on the wall and surprisingly keeps my garage comfortable during cold weather.”
5. $20 coupon: A machine that can efficiently slash your heating bill
To efficiently supplement the heat from your radiator, you’re going to want a sizable machine, like this Honeywell EnergySmart infrared heater. While we haven’t tested this model, Walmart shoppers swear by it, granting it an average 4.5-star rating and praising its fast heating, quiet operation, programmable setting and wheels, which allow for easy transport from room to room. One customer gushed, “I am simply in awe of this incredible little heating machine … It seems to heat any room in my small house almost instantly.” While it regularly retails upwards of $165, you can currently use promo code 39022 at Staples (go to the “apply/edit coupons” section in your cart) to shave $20 off its $151.99 price tag and bring the total down to just $131.99.
6. Save $13: A compact heater to keep small rooms toasty
Compact and portable, the NewAir QuietHeat15 is a fan-favorite that won’t break the bank. With close to 250 reviews on Wayfair, customers laud its simple controls and extra safety features, such as its automatic tip-over kill-switch and built-in defenses against overheating. The brand claims its 1500 watts of heating power can warm up to 250-square-feet, while its ultra-quiet operation make it an ideal pick for those who get distracted by noisy machines. Usually retailing for $99.99, you can scoop it up at Walmart for $81.99.
7. Less than $20: A small ceramic heater to place atop your desk
Whether you’re at your desk burning the midnight oil or trying to warm up on the couch, you’ll want this little Black+Decker personal ceramic heater by your side this winter. Simple, inexpensive and versatile, it uses 1500 watts of power to generate plenty of heat for personal use and is super lightweight to tote along with you to every room of the house. Out of its more than 400 positive reviewers on Amazon wrote, “It’s very nice that you can adjust the heat and fan separately … For the money, it can’t be beat.” Once $34.99, it’s down to only $19.80 at Amazon, saving you a grand total of $15.19.
8. 10% off: A heater with serious air-warming prowess
The Honeywell Heat Genius HCE840B can tackle the worst drafts that winter has to offer. Coming in second place overall in our testing, we were wowed by its ability to reach temperatures north of 96 degrees Fahrenheit thanks to its 1,500 watts of heating power. Of course, with six customizable heat settings, you can opt for an always-on release of heat or leave it on for phase heating, which will warm your room in 30-minute chunks. A few innovative features also set it ahead of the pack, such as its quiet mode, which uses a low heat setting and fan to produce a soothing white noise. While you’d usually have to shell out $79.99 for this model, you can currently get it at Walmart for $74.99. (Note that it’s a few dollars cheaper when use promo code SEP20 at the Honeywell Store, which brings the price down to a more affordable $70.83.)
