Dr. Richard Brennan, Director of Health Emergencies in the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, revealed that the organization is closely following any new mutations and tracking their characteristics, explaining that there are 4 alarming mutations in 21 countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and a delta mutation is present in 14 countries.
Brennan said, During a press conference on the latest developments of the Corona pandemic in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and the situation of the pandemic in Iran, there are many countries that do not have tests to analyze these variables. He added: “We did not feed enough citizens, so the disease is still spreading, and the more people take the vaccine, the closer we are to the decrease in the number of new mutations.”
