The World Health Organization has warned 6 countries of the deadly Ebola virus, calling for rapid action to avoid its spread in the countries where it appeared.
The organization called on six African countries to be on alert for possible cases of Ebola virus, as Guinea on Tuesday reported new cases.

Guinea announced an outbreak of the virus on Sunday, the first resurgence of the disease since its outbreak between 2013-2016, while Congo confirmed four new cases this month.
“We have alerted the six neighboring countries, including Sierra Leone and Liberia, and they are moving very quickly to prepare and look for any possible infections,” said Margaret Harris of the World Health Organization in a press briefing from Geneva on Tuesday.
Guinea’s neighbors include Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Guinea has so far recorded up to 10 suspected Ebola cases and five deaths.
On Tuesday, the Health Ministry said that since the outbreak was announced on Sunday, 115 contacts had been identified with known cases in the southeastern city of Nazrikor and 10 in the capital, Conakry.
The largest outbreak of the disease was in the Congo, causing more than 2,200 deaths between 2018-2020.
