Gohmert achieved with Dr. Simone Gold on Friday right after she was launched from federal prison.
Gold, the founder of America’s Frontline Health professionals, a team that spreads disinformation and conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic, was earlier known for touting unproven claims in the course of the pandemic.
In March, Gold took a plea settlement for her involvement in the riot.
Gold pleaded responsible to a misdemeanor depend of moving into and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, according to the plea settlement, Insider’s Ashley Collman earlier noted. She was sentenced to 60 days in jail in June, CNN described.
In a press launch, Gohmert falsely named Gold a “political prisoner” and blamed President Joe Biden’s administration for “unjustly prosecuting” her.
“Just after having her name and standing shamefully dragged as a result of the mud, the Biden administration’s DOJ threw her in jail for peacefully strolling into the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and offering a speech. Dr. Gold is the definition of what a political prisoner seems to be like—something I under no circumstances imagined I might see right here in the United States of The united states,” Gohmert stated.
“God Bless Dr. Gold. Background will not look kindly on all those who persecuted—and prosecuted—doctors who spoke out towards the COVID lockdown, mask and vaccine mandates.”
Gold, in a tweet, said she was “honored” to receive the recognition.

“I am honored to acquire this recognition from Congressman Gohmert, a genuine believer in freedom and a intense defender of our constitutional rights,” Gold wrote.
