A toddler who was killed when she stepped in front of a car was ‘destined for greatness’ and ‘lit up the room’ whenever she was nearby.
Little Luna Capri Matenga died on Tuesday, three days after she was hit by a car while crossing Goldmine Road on the Gold Coast on Sunday morning.
The three-year-old fought hard while in hospital, with her heartbroken parents Jessica Feeney and Timi Matenga by her side the entire time.
Now, one day out from Christmas, they are making preparations to lay their little girl to rest.
Luna was her mother’s ‘mini’ and had the spirit of a lion. Just three weeks before her death, Ms Feeney penned a tribute to her daughter explaining that she was ‘destined for greatness’.
Ms Feeney had just dyed her hair red, the same colour as Luna’s, so they could look more alike
‘Our hearts are completely broken. Fly high my gorgeous blue eyed, red headed unicorn! Ride those dragons baby. Until we meet again!’ Ms Feeney wrote
Two weeks ago, little Luna performed in her second dance concert and lit up the stage for her family and friends
‘You’re a much better version of myself and I will make sure you have the confidence to soar,’ Ms Feeney said in an open letter to her daughter on November 27.
‘You are the most beautiful red headed unicorn in the world… If you ever have any doubts, insecurities or uncertainties I got you.’
Two weeks ago, little Luna performed in her second dance concert and lit up the stage for her family and friends.

Her dance teachers shared tearjerking tributes on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, vowing to ‘cherish and honour your memory forever’.
‘We all love you our tiny dancer,’ the studio said.
Others, including Salim Mehajer’s off-again girlfriend Missy Tysoe and former Bachelor star Rhiannon Doherty, paid tribute to the toddler.
Her mother Jessica said Luna (pictured) ‘is the most beautiful girl in the whole world’
‘She lit up the room,’ one mourner said, while fitness guru Ashy Bines said: ‘This is not fair’.
Ms Feeney had just dyed her hair red, the same colour as Luna’s, so they could look more alike.
She previously told Daily Mail Australia Luna was ‘the most beautiful girl in the world.’
‘She is confident, beautiful, the best sister and she is fighting so hard for her life. She has the whole world backing her and sending prayers.
‘We need everyone to pray for her.’
But on Wednesday, Ms Feeney revealed she tragically lost her battle.
‘With the heaviest of hearts, I want to thank every single person for their prayers and positive vibes for my baby girl. She felt it, we felt it,’ she said.

Queensland Police said in a statement ‘initial investigations indicate just before 9am the girl crossed Goldmine Road in between two parked vehicles and was hit by a Toyota Corolla which was travelling northbound’.
A registered nurse at the scene performed CPR on Luna, before she was stabilised and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.
A 33-year-old female driver was not injured, police said.
