The Vegas Golden Knights are hosting the Montreal Canadiens in an afternoon affair to end 2024.
The Golden Knights are rolling at the moment, entering tonight’s game on a six-game win streak and winners of nine of their last 10. They are receiving contributions from everyone in the lineup, are buying into their defensive roles and are getting quality goaltending from both starting goaltenders.
They’ll host the Canadiens, a team coming into town with momentum after beating two of the top teams in the NHL, beating the Florida Panthers 4-0 and the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2.
The Canadiens have felt a boost since Patrik Laine made his debut, and his return has been most notably felt on the power play, where he’s scored all eight of his goals on.
Ilya Samsonov recorded a shutout in his last outing, but the expected start tonight is the Golden Knights’ No.1 goaltender, Adin Hill. His numbers haven’t reached the heights they have in the past two seasons, but Hill has slowly improved his numbers as the season has gone on. What Hill has done well consistently is that he’s stepped up his game against some of the best teams in the NHL.
The Golden Knights currently have a six-point lead over the Los Angeles Kings and could extend it with their second win over the Canadiens this season.
Puck drop is at 12:00 P.M. PST at T-Mobile Arena.
