The government of Nicolas Maduro and the opposition of Venezuela signed an agreement in Mexico this Saturday that allowed immediate relief of US sanctions against the Caracas regime.
As a result of this “social protection” agreement, the US government authorized the giant Chevron to partially resume its oil extraction activities in Venezuela.
“This action reflects the long-standing policy of the United States to provide targeted sanctions relief based on concrete measures that alleviate the suffering of the Venezuelan people and support the restoration of democracy,” the US Treasury Department statement said in a declaration.
A Chevron spokesman said the company was reviewing the terms of the license.
