Between September 2021 and last June, the federal government has channeled its main investments in living place through self-production and reconstruction works, as well as urban improvement, according to the Fourth Government Report of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
According to the document presented, in the case of actions for self-production of housing, 16,158 million pesos were allocated in 187,278 actions, including those of Fovissste and Infonavit, whose resources are made up of employer contributions.
“Of the total number of families, 86.8% were low-income (six UMAs); 46.4% are women and 8% are older adults. Of the total actions carried out, 93.2% were for expansion or home improvement”, limited the report sent to Congress.
Without detailing the investment amounts, the report recalled the creation of two platforms coordinated by Sedatu for assistance in self-production works: “Decide and build”, whose objective is to offer technical information, and “By my direction”, to offer reference marketing materials.
In the case of the actions coordinated by the National Housing Commission (Conavi), it was detailed that between last September and June, within the framework of the National Housing Program 9,962 subsidies were delivered, for an amount of 1,415.2 million pesos, most of which was delivered for house expansion.
According to President López Obrador, currently 21 million 236,866 people are registered with the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), which represents more than 623,000 more workers than before the outbreak of the pandemic.
Under this scenario, the president explained that since the beginning of his administration, financing has been provided for the benefit of more than 2 million workers.
However, it should be remembered that this is a benefit that derives from having a formal job.
Urban improvement: the largest investment
Through the program Urban Improvementin less than a year, 501 urban equipment and infrastructure works and actions have been approved, as well as public space, of which more than half, 236 projects, have already been executed in 135 municipalities, through a investment of 14,293 million pesos.
It should be noted that of the works, part of the investment has been channeled for intervention in priority works of the federal government, such as the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, the Mayan Train, the Dos Bocas Refinery, among others.
“In order to meet the social, cultural, educational, economic, mobility, communication and connectivity needs in municipalities surrounding one of the emblematic works of the Government of Mexico, 36 works and actions were approved, with an investment of 1,332.9 million pesos. , for the benefit of 453,815 people, in eight municipalities of the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico”, was detailed in the report presented.
Under this scenario, President López Obrador pointed out that a total of 38,000 million pesos have been channeled into urban improvement, to build sports units, parks, boardwalks, artistic spaces, markets, schools, health centers, as well as streets and water facilities. .
Reconstruction, another priority
In what corresponds to the attention to people affected by the earthquakes of September 2017 and February 2018, it was detailed that 5,913 subsidies have been delivered with an investment of 1,126.1 million pesos, of which 7 out of 10 went to the total reconstruction of the affected houses.
“The geographical distribution of these subsidies was as follows: 32.7% in Morelos, 23.3% in Chiapas, 18.6% in Puebla, 17.7% in Oaxaca and 7.7% in the states of Guerrero, Mexico and Mexico City”, it was pointed out in the report corresponding to September of last year and the closing of June 2022.
López Obrador commented that under the Urban Improvement Program 6,720 public buildings and more than 1,000 temples and cultural buildings have also been rebuilt.
