Government report, alternate reality: CEESP

With the speech of the Fourth Government Report, the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador “lives an alternative reality to the one shown by the official figures”, with an economic slowdown and high inflation rates, the private sector condemned.

The Chief Executive’s speech maintained the “triumphalist” tone, characteristic throughout this entire government, where he highlighted the recovery of the economy to pre-pandemic levels when most countries reached it a long time ago, criticized the Study Center Private Sector Economics (CEESP).

The private body grouped in the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) said that President AMLO when pointing out the issue of social welfare, “the reality is that the latest available information shows a greater number of poor people.”

In addition, he assured that the public health system suffers from severe, widely documented deficiencies in medical and hospital care and in the supply of medicines that have left households defenseless and with high expenses in their pockets to meet their medical needs.

Private sector analysts warned that public insecurity is clearly worrying due to its high levels of violence and impunity. In addition, the educational system has suffered serious setbacks and its perspective is extremely worrying.

The CEESP considered that on this occasion, AMLO’s speech was more articulated and less belligerent than previous reports, since his main objective is electoral support for the so-called fourth transformation.

“As expected, the speech maintained the characteristic triumphalist tone throughout this government,” CEESP explained.
