President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed the death of the governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa Huerta, at the age of 63.
“I am very sorry for the death of my colleague Miguel Barbosa Huerta, governor of the state of Puebla. I just spoke with his wife Rosario, I expressed my sadness and I extend my deepest condolences to family, friends and his people,” he wrote on the afternoon of This Tuesday President López Obrador on his social networks.

Given the rumors about the complications of the governor’s health, earlier, the Puebla government had issued a brief statement in which they reported that Barbosa Huerta was cared for by qualified personnel and his status was “stable and without complications.”
After the announcement of his death, various political leaders have expressed their condolences through social networks, such as the former Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, who said she “deeply” regrets the death of the former legislator.

Luis Miguel Geronimo Barbosa Huerta was born on September 30, 1959 in Zinacatepec, Puebla.
He studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 1979 to 1983. He was a founder and member of his own law firm in Tehuacán from 1982 to 2000.
He was a multi-member federal deputy to the Congress of the Union from 2000 to 2003. He also served as a senator of the Republic for the period 2012-2018; He was president of the Mexican Senate from 2014-2015, president of the Belisario Domínguez Institute of the Senate of the Republic and former leader of the Party of the Democratic Revolution. He assumed the governorship on August 1, 2019.
