Culiacán, Sinaloa, April 24, 2023.- Within the framework of his Weekly Conference, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya announced various connection efforts from Sinaloa with the AIFA (NLU) and AICM airports, also highlighting the signing of the agreement of the Alliance of the Sea of Cortez, established between the Ministry of Tourism and the Governors of Sinaloa, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit and Sonora, finalized last Saturday.
Ciudad Juárez to Mazatlán by Viva Aerobús starting July 1, and Culiacán-NLU (Santa Lucía Airport or Felipe Ángeles) by Volaris starting July 11, will be the two new flights that strengthen Sinaloa’s connectivity with the north and the center of the country.
The state president indicated that given the increase in tourists expected based on this and other actions, Sinaloa is working to improve its air connectivity, facilitating transfers and access to other markets, such as the case of Chihuahua, which will also strengthen the stay in the port, given the savings represented by the transfer by air.
“Without a doubt, the importance and benefit for Sinaloa is that the more people visit us, the greater chance we have of increasing tourism, the possibility that those who travel quickly by plane can stay for at least a night or two, by making the effort and they don’t spend it on the road, but they can stay and one night in the tourist center, because it is very important, not only because it is spent in the hotel, but for dinner, etc., the stay, the longer it lasts, the greater the benefits,” said the Governor.
In this context, Rocha Moya indicated that next July air connectivity will be increased through two new routes, one from Ciudad Juárez to Mazatlán that will have a frequency of three weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and that will transfer around of 25 thousand passengers each year by the Viva Aerobús Airlines and the second that will connect Culiacán with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), through three weekly flights with capacity for 180 people, on Volaris Airlines flights.
In addition, to facilitate air connections, the Governor announced that efforts are being made for Aeroméxico flights from Culiacán to land at Terminal 2 of the Mexico City Airport, eliminating the current transfers between one terminal and another.
“We now have the Culiacán – AIFA (NLU) route, that would start in July, which by the way we are here right now, I already told the Secretary of Tourism and it is doing it, both the Secretary of Finance as well, I want it to be achieved for Aeroméxico de Culiacán to arrive at Terminal 2, because it is a battle, they have connectivity in Terminal 2, they get off at 1, they have to take them in a small truck, so we are already making arrangements because Mazatlán is already arriving at the terminal 2”, concluded the Governor.
