The Greek government said it will tighten measures to combat the Corona virus for a week, starting from tomorrow, Sunday, by closing hair salons, bookstores and some other stores that were operating before Christmas.
Most of the stores in Greece remained closed during the month of December, but the seasonal easing of restrictions provided little outlet for some retail stores that were badly affected by the closures.
And government spokesman Stelios Petsas announced in a televised statement that the new and stricter restrictions will be put into effect on January 3, adding that the night curfew will start from nine in the evening, an hour earlier than previously specified.
Petsas said the measures are aimed at helping the schools reopen on January 11th.
Greece, which began last week’s first vaccination campaign, with the Coronavirus vaccine, has recorded 139,447 confirmed cases of the virus and 4,881 deaths.
