Former world number one Greg Norman is back in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.
The 65-year-old Australian went to hospital on Friday with a mild fever, cough, aches and pains and a headache.
The 1986 and 1993 Open champion then returned home to self-isolate and await the result of a Covid-19 test.
“I hope this will be my final update on this Covid saga – back in hospital after getting a positive result,” Norman posted on Instagram.
Norman said that, despite being “fit and strong” and having a “high tolerance for pain”, the virus was “like nothing I have ever experienced before”.
“Muscle and joint pain on another level. Headaches that feel like a chisel going through your head scraping little bits off each time,” he said.
Norman added that he was on “the path to full recovery” and hoped to return home to isolate later on Monday.
He competed in last week’s PNC Championship in Orlando with his son, Greg Jr, finishing in a share of ninth.
Greg Jr confirmed that he and his wife had tested positive for Covid-19 and were isolating at home.
Norman spent more than 300 weeks at the top of the world rankings and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001.
