Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg has taken to Twitter to troll out-going US President Donald Trump as he leaves the White House.

The 18-year-old reignited her Twitter feud with Trump on Wednesday as Joe Biden prepared to become the 46th President of the United States today in an inauguration ceremony in Washington DC.

‘He seems like a very happy old man looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!,’ Thunberg wrote on Twitter under a picture of Trump boarding a helicopter.

The barb was a reference to a condescending remark Trump made in 2019, when he called Thunberg a ‘very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future’ after the young Swede became upset during an impassioned speech to world leaders at the UN climate action summit in New York.

‘You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,’ Thunberg said in her speech on September 23, 2019.

‘The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line.’

In response, Trump appeared to belittle the then-16-year-old’s condemnation of world leaders for their inaction on climate change.

‘She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future,’ the president tweeted at the time. ‘So nice to see!’

The following day, Thunberg – who had been caught on camera giving Trump an icy stare as he arrived to the UN summit – trolled the president by changing her Twitter bio to read: ‘A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future’.

Her profile had previously read: ’16 year old climate activist with Asperger’s’.

In December 2019, the two clashed again after Time magazine named Thunberg its person of the year.

Trump branded the choice ‘so ridiculous’ and implored Thunberg to ‘chill!’.

‘Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend!,’ Trump wrote in a tweet.

True to form, Thunberg changed her Twitter bio to: ‘A teenager working on her anger management problem’ and ‘currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.’

The climate activist offered Trump his own advice, suggesting that he might like to work on his anger management, enjoy a good old movie with a friend and chill.

Thunberg has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s climate policy, which included withdrawing the United States from the landmark Paris Climate Agreement.

President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to sign an executive order to rejoin the international treaty on his first day in office.
