The UN special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, said that Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a political settlement in Yemen is critical.

This came in a tweet to Griffiths on his Twitter account, following a meeting he held Monday evening in Saudi Arabia with the Saudi Deputy Defense Minister, Khalid bin Salman.
Griffiths added that, “in his meeting with Khalid bin Salman, he discussed ways to overcome obstacles facing the prospects for peace in Yemen.”
“The commitment of Saudi Arabia and the region to a comprehensive political settlement negotiated by Yemeni leadership is crucial to ending the conflict in a comprehensive and sustainable manner,” he added.

Yesterday, Monday, the Saudi Deputy Defense Minister, Khalid bin Salman, said in a tweet, “I received the UN envoy to Yemen, Griffiths, and during the meeting we discussed developments in Yemeni affairs and the Kingdom’s humanitarian efforts.”
Bin Salman confirmed to Griffiths, Saudi Arabia’s keenness to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.
