Epoint guard Ja Morant re-emerged at the key moment as the Memphis Grizzlies’ attacking leader and with 28 points led them to a 120-108 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Morant scored 17 points in the third quarter streak when the Grizzlies broke the score in their favor for the second straight win and went 8-7.
Along with Morant, forward Dillon Brooks and power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. each added 18 points, and guard Desmond Bane had 16 more.
Brandon Clarke finished with 14 points, 10 of them in the fourth quarter and completed the list of the five Grizzlies players who had two-digit numbers.
Spanish rookie pvot Santiago Aldama played two minutes with the Grizzlies and missed his only shot to the basket, but captured a defensive rebound.
Forward Paul George led the Clippers with 23 points and six assists, but this time he could not be the winning leader of the Los Angeles team.
Point guard Reggie Jackson had 18 points, after scoring 4 of 8 3-point attempts. Guard Luke Kennard added 15 points for the Clippers and also hit 3 of 4 from outside the perimeter.
Memphis held the lead for most of the game, but Morant provided an offensive explosion in the third quarter and the Grizzlies extended the lead to 20 when Clark made four consecutive inside baskets early in the quarter.
The Clippers entered the game with eight wins in the last nine games, including a 106-92 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
