Grizzlies Dominate Thunder in Salt Lake City Summer League Clash
Memphis’ Young Stars Shine in 92-80 Victory
SALT LAKE CITY — The Memphis Grizzlies rallied behind dynamic performances from Jaylen Wells and GG Jackson to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 92-80 in Saturday’s Salt Lake City Summer League matchup at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Wells and Jackson scored 20 points apiece, with Jackson igniting a second-half surge to seal Memphis’ decisive win. Oklahoma City’s Ajay Mitchell opened strong, dropping 16 first-half points (6-10 FG), while Wells kept the Grizzlies close, contributing 12 before halftime.
Mitchell finished with a game-high 24 points (10-18 FG) and six assists, but Memphis’ depth proved overwhelming. Cam Spencer delivered a well-rounded performance with 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, and a steal, while Javon Small tied Mitchell’s assist tally with six dimes.
Thunder rookie Nikola Topic impressed with 14 points, four assists, and two steals, and Brooks Barnhizer anchored the boards with a game-high 13 rebounds. Memphis, however, stifled Oklahoma City’s offense in clutch moments, holding them to 80 points—their lowest scoring effort of the summer league.
